When I bought something from WH Smith at the beginning of Setember, I was told, as I handed over my WH Smith clubcard, that WH Smith were no longer doing the points. I have to redeem my current balance by next February.
• Well I`ve just had one emailed to me for the first time ever from WH Smiths Clubcard but I`m having trouble getting it to print properly but that could just be the way my printer is set up

WH Smith are trialing not using clubcard in one of their areas (Liverpool). They say that the average person only gets 45p in points/year which is a bit rubbish. Therefore they are inviting people in this area to sign up for an email list that will send monthly money off vouchers instead. Maybe someone who lives in the Liverpool area could post details of this because the communication did say that the vouchers would be valid in all areas.

Also I tried to download this clubcard coupon but it looks like the whole WHS site is down.

• In response to a query about Clubcard ceasing, I received this reply:

Thank you for your email enquiring about our Clubcard loyalty Scheme. We are changing the Clubcard scheme to provide you with an alternative offer which will give you greater savings every month. This will be in the form of vouchers rather than points - immediate savings and easier to use!We are currently trialling a scheme, in which some of our stores are taking part, whereby we are encouraging our customers to enter into an email relationship with us instead. In turn, we will guarantee that they will receive a monthly email with at least £10 worth of vouchers included. The introductory email will have £20 worth of vouchers! Our stores should be displaying relevant display material as from 1st August 2007 to advise our customers that points will no longer be issued from 1st September 2007 but points can be redeemed up until Friday 29 February 2008. After that time, you will not be able to redeem any points and the current Clubcard scheme will cease to run in participating stores. I regret our staff did not advise you of these changes correctly, resulting in this confusion. Please note that Points on cards which have not been used for more than 18 months are automatically removed under the terms and conditions of the scheme. To join, please complete the application form instore. Alternatively, you may forward your details to our email address at e-club@whsmith.co.uk. Please include the following:Your full name and address detailsContact telephone numbers and/or email addressDate Of BirthPermission to receive promotional mailings from WHSmith and/or Third PartiesI do hope I've been able to answer your queries clearly.

I found you had to click on it twice, the first time it just goes to WHS home page (in new window), I left that open and clicked on the link again and got the voucher.
Then I found that "click here to print page" resulted in half the voucher being missing, so I highlighted the voucher and printed selection, which worked. I shall try it today and see what happens, I wonder if they still apply vouchers if they have stopped giving points?

The other day i got "points balance not available" which I suspect is related to this : what happens if we have no idea what our points balance is, how can we redeem it?
• I had the same problem - except my points drastically reduced to just 5!! I emailed them today (there's an 0870 number on the website you can also phone) and they were able to tell me the correct balance. You have to give them your Clubcard number and date of birth because of the "data protection act" ..... I had a reply within a couple of hours. Well done WHS!

Surely they must be able to tell you in the shop, say if you took an item to the till and say I want to redeem my points - I haven't tried it yet as this is the first time I've ever had enough points! Do you have to have enough to pay for the whole item, or can you just top it up with cash?
