Are endowment poicies a better bet than funeral plans

I've looked at the information about funeral plans, but all have the same disdvantage - if my precarious financial position changes (ie losing the part time job that tops up my state pension) so that I can no longer pay the premiums, then I lose everything I've paid in.

Do endowment policies work differently? ie, if I can't keep up the payments, will what I've already paid in be available or lost? I want to make things easier for my (physically) disabled daughter when the time comes, not give a donation to a business that already has more than enough! By the way, I'm a 66 yr old woman, if that makes a difference, with no identified health issues other than arthritis and underactive thyroid.

Why not just put some money aside each month yourself ? At your age statistically you are probably going to see 90.
