Silicone cake moulds

I've managed to aquire some shaped silicone moulds but on the instructions it doesn't say anything about greasing the moulds before baking a cake in them never used these before so do I grease them or not:confused:

    Hi Pam, I got some and they are fantastic. I washed them in soapy water before I used them.The instrucytions said that greasing was not needed, but being cautious I did anywya. WOW, what a great result. I made muffins and I could just pick them out of the moulds. I have used them without greasing since with great results. They are also fantastic in the freezer or for cold dishes. Have fun experimenting!!

    I was a bit dubious but I will have a play over the weekend as I have to do dd birthday cake on sunday but the place I got the big mickey mouse shape also sent a small mickey donald and pluto which I didn't order so I can try those first

    I grease mine if I'm doing soft cakes, but I tend to do it with very small amount of vegtable oil on a tissue just wiped on. They are great (I have some really bizzare shapes as I always buy them when I'm back in Germany and tehy are really popular and really cheap there) You might find you have to alter the oven temperature a bit, but other than that, they have always been fine for me.

  • If you live in the North East have a look in your local Boyes. I saw silicone cookware there at a low price.
