New kitten having Diarrer

Hi Everyone, we just recently took in two kittens which are both sisters, they are about 13 months as went to someone else first who couldn't have them because of landlord so we took them in.
One of them keeps having Diarrer all over, its been since Saturday but Saturday was a lot worse, I made the mistake of giving them pate on the Thursday so that might have been the reason
Also the other was full of worms, we have wormed them with tablets so again this could be a reason for this?
Also we were giving them dry cat biscuits and then half a sachet of kitten cat meat a day, currently stopped the cat meat until she stops.

If they've had it since Saturday (4 days) I should take them to the vet pretty quickly, regardless of what anyone says on a forum as that's a very long time to have it.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Vet. Diarrhoea is very dehydrating, which prevents other bodily organs from being able to function correctly.0

A good way to look at it is what would do if a young child had diarrhea for 4 or 5 days?
A kitten is basically no different and after this length of time, they will be extremely dehydrated, something can cause all sorts of further problems and you should really make a vet appointment ASAP.
You say that you have stopped the cat meat and are only giving dry biscuit.
A bland soft, very low fat food such as minced cooked chicken or turkey would be a far better option.0 -
Maybe NILE can move this thread for you ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
I’ve moved your thread from the ‘In my home’ board to the ‘Pets & Pet Care’ board, where it is better suited.

What did the vet say?0

Don't feed them pate.
Don't feed them dry biscuits.
At 13 months they can have adult cat food, they don't need kitten pouches - do you mean 13 weeks?
Did you go to the vet? Diarrhoea lasting several days can have really serious consequences.0 -
If they are 13 months old they aren't kittens.
Really after two days of this an adult cat needs to see a vet, a kitten needs to see a vet after 12 hours. This is due to dehydration, which you are actually making worse by feeding biscuits.
Take the cat to the vet so it can be seen, you will then most likely need to feed plain boiled chicken for a short time, after stools have firmed you can slowly start giving wet cat food again.0 -
sorry meant 13 weeks lol, and they are fine now, back to normal of hard poo twice a day.0
