So I didn't use the moisturiser at all except to mix it with the colour cream on the backs of my hands and my face, so they were a little lighter and my body actually took a bit of colour! A key is also not to be afraid of going dark(!) - use too little and it simply won't work. I've never gone really dark, ever, just a healthy glow.
I think you are onto something there because last night I did a few things differently. I used less moisturiser, used a bit more lotion and also rubbed it into my skin more. I appear to be slightly darker today which I am totally happy about! My hands look better too - not streaky anymore. I am not dark but darker which I am pleased about. :T

Sorry to jump on the band wagon jaymee, but i am in the same boat. I am yet to find the perfect 'dark' fake tan. i use garnier summerbody deep which is a gradual tanner at the mo and this is great for the price but cant really be bother to do it every night. i have used fake bake, st tropez, xen-tan, you name it and ive tried it. I have heard that victoria beckham uses rodial?? its 40 quid a bottle tho. any one used it before and if so what was it like?? i have naturally pale-ish skin and takes me ages to tan...god damn skin! xx0

I used to be a ST Tropez worshipper!!!
Ok so i don tan quickly anyway, and im not pale pale, but whenever i st tropezed i always came out MEGA dark.
Here's what i did.....
1 - Use st tropez body polish 3 days straight before applying
2 - also used st tropez moisturiser after shower for 3 days too (tip - if you like to sunbathe too then use this moisturiser as your general everyday body moisturiser, it has ingrediants that help tan and it keeps skin soft and prolongs st tropez tans)
3 - Apply body lotion to dry area's and those area's that need to look 'blended' i.e toenails, cuticles, between toes, ankles, knees, hands, elbows, hairline, underarms, ears and face
4 - Whack on the tan! Tip - DONT BE SHY TO APPLY! (Quoted by Jordan)
I used to buy 240ml sizes and would get about 3-4 applications out of it. I wacked it on like nobody's business! Rub it in just enough, dont rub too hard.
5 - leave the area's you have put extra lotion on til last. When you come to apply to these area's, i apply a little more lotion to my nails and cuticles and dont rub it in. Then i mix my tan and moisturiser half and half and lightly apply to the area's, except my face where i just mix it then apply without putting more lotion on.
6 - Let it dry for a bit before sitting, i used to give it half an hour then would sit on a towel
7 - SLEEP ON IT. Many people leave it on for only a few hours. The best thing is to sleep and leave it overnight
8 - First thing, wash it off.Started DMP Oct 2011 - £7082Feb 2012 - £6562July 2012 - £6112Oct 2012 - £57810 -
Latex gloves everytime and make sure you get a good fit. Once used, wash and re-use, you dont need to bin them!
I used to use St Tropez (i liked but found a bit streaky) then iscovered Fake Bake! Its fab..
Same again tho, use latex gloves and find one for pale skin!0 -
I've never tried St.Tropez before but I LOVE Fake Bake. I use a Boots mitt or plastic gloves to apply eveywhere (it goes on really really dark, I was terrified the first time I tried it!!!) then I use a make up sponge to do my hands as you don't put it on your palms and that way you can blend it in. I always put quite abit on my hands as my tan normally last 3-4 days before I have to reapply and as I wash my hands more times than the rest of my body I find it washes off my hands a lot quicker. Always apply at night or when you have a good 8 hours where you won't be leaving the house as it takes this long for the colour to develop otherwise it all washes off and your just as pale as you were to begin. I get mine off Ebay for under £10. Bargain!!!

I use St Tropez.. what I usually do is..
Make sure I shave, exfoliate and moisturise in the morning..
Then in the evening before bed I bathe again, using the St tropez body polisher, paying particular attention to elbows/knees etc..
Then use the St Tropez moisturiser on these particular areas..
Apply the tan..
Use a mitt [I have the St Tropez mitt] to gently buff away any excess..
Wait for it to dry, and go to bed..
I currently only do it once a week [or more if Im going out or whatever] but if you want a stronger colour you'll need to do it every 2/3 days..
I use the auto bronzant at the mo but want to try the Whipped bronze. Which one is easiest and has a nicer finish, anyone?\\ Debt Free April 2008 //\\ Single Mummy to 1 boy - 4 years & 5 months old //\\ Last weeks spend: £139.39 - 2 NSDs //0
