So Cross with Abbey

I'm having trouble with Abbey and want to know if anyone else out there had the same problem, or if it's just me!
Our discounted rate was coming to an end, and we decided to change it to a Flexible Mortgage. It's one of those where you can offset the savings you have against the mortgage and thus pay less interest, even though you are paying a slightly higher rate. All fine in theory, and that's all it seems to be at the moment....
The deal changed mid-August, and we are now on the flexible product. We've asked for internet banking, and finally (after being told twice that we didn't need to do anything to get internet banking, then being told we did) we now have the relevant information. However, they have only sent details to my husband, and I still don't have a log on.
So, tonight, we went in to have a look. And now it seems that we are on a 'view only' version i.e. we can't actually get anything into the savings part, or do any other transactions!!!
So I rang the number on the letter for the passcode, only to be told that they couldn't help as they could only deal with technical queries such as log on issues. Fine, but had the letter being clearer about that, I wouldn't have bothered them. So I now have to ring another number tomorrow to try and sort out something that should have been sorted ages ago.
In the meantime, I'm paying a higher rate on the full amount. I'm so cross with them I could scream!
Any comments, advice, similar experiences out there? Please, someone, give me some hope!

Why did you wait till now to add the extra money? I know internet banking is quick and easy, but until you have a passcode, you knew you were unable to do it. Surely it would have been quicker to have send the first lot in August by snail mail? or visit your local branch?I am a Mortgage Adviser

this is the mortgage I have and experienced the 'view only' issue myself.
It turned out that they will only grant view only access until they have received one of the signed forms back from you - can't remember exactly, but think it was called something like 'online transact authority'.
They claimed not to have received it but I was granted full access immediately after a phone call where I had a 'polite moan' about it all. Think I may have been helped by the fact that they acknowledged receipt of a paper-based overpayment request that was sent in the same envelope.
Basically another administrative hurdle - I could only console myslef by the fact that it is designed to prevent someone from getting their hands on the savings pot (or worse still, the additional facility) - even if that someone is me!!!I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)You should note that this site doesn't check my status as an IFA, so you need to take my word for it. I waited for the very simple reason that I don't want to put money into the savings pot that I have no idea how to get out. They have been a bit short on sending me any sort of detail.0
