We've got a nice one bed flat, with a 19yr mortgage, for 99k. Probably 20k equity once sold.
We're 48 yrs old, earning 3 times single salary of 46k. No children or dependants, long term prof job.
We've seen a two bed cottage, would love it, but it's 230k asking price.
We're going to see the bank. on Monday, but does anyone have a gut feeling of whether we'll get one or not?
Also, we did wonder about buy to let......anyone have any experience of that?
Grateful for any thoughts or advice

Why dont you put your details in one of the affordability calculators. If inputted correctly it should gve you an idea. Nationwide do a good one. Have a look at their website.0

I would speak to a broker rather than go to one bank. From their experience they would be better positioned to know who is likely to accept you.

What's BTL got to do with you buying a cottage? Were you planning to let it out?
Do you have any savings for a deposit on this cottage ?
Are there three of you each earning £46k and do you all live together or only one or two of you ? Will all three live in the 2 bed?0
