Best fitness watch for running/swimming/cycling/counting steps + heart rate monitor

Options
Can anyone recommend a fitness watch that can be used both for running and counting steps. Plus have a heart rate monitor? If it could monitor cycling and swimming too then all the better :D Thank you

Ideally want to be able to sync it with a phone or tablet rather than switch on a computer

I have a Garmin Forerunner 310XT which does all this. I find it is great for the bike, good for the running, not so good for the swimming in the outdoor pool as it doesn't get signal, I haven't tried it in the sea yet.

It syncs with Strava, so on your phone/tablet.

Tomtom, Garmin, Polar, Fitbit and others all make devices that will perform similar functions ranging from about £150 to £500.

I have the Tomtom Spark but it is down to individual preference.

Set a budget and go out and have a look and play with them all to see which have the features/functions you require and which look/interface you prefer.

I use a fenix 3, whilst not cheap it does an excellent job.

I tested it swimming indoors last week, and it picked up the correct number of lengths and the correct strokes used for each length.

I mostly use it for navigating routes whilst running in the fells.

  • I am lookingfor the cheapest heart rate monitor watch that doesn't require a chest band. For use when running, any ideas?
  • Hello Eric, I use the Garmin Forerunner Waterproof for my cycling and swimming and step counting. It also has a heart rate tracker, although I personally never used it. Had it for a while now and am quite satisfied with the product! Have fun running around!
