First direct - changing mortgage rate before exchange/completion

Does anyone have experience of changing their mortgage rate before exchange/completion with First Direct? Found some old threads with different providers and people's experience was variable.

We're close to exchange but our fixed rate mortgage offer is over 0.5% more than the currently advertised on the First Direct website which would save us £100+ a month.

Wondering if anyone has experience of swapping at a late stage and how much paperwork/time this involves.

Ive recently done this with Natwest. I just asked my mortgage advisor who contacted them & the mortgage offer amended at the new rate. It was done really quickly It took 2 days. No extra costs or anything.

Did this with Barclays and they can even switch between different products and refund differences in admin fee, i.e. fixed to tracker

For anyone that finds this thread in the future. It turns out it was relatively easy, it involved a 20 minute phone call and about a week waiting for a revised mortgage offer document.
