CSA debt

Hi
New poster but regular reader/lurker on mse.
Today out of the blue oh has had a call from CSA saying he owes money from 2001. Apparently they are just closing the claim down - his youngest child is 26!
We have letters from them - annual statements which are all nil. We used to joke about why we still got them seeing as all the children were long since adults in their own right.
The lady on the phone basically just said they would pass it to debt recovery. My worry is that oh has no income of his own as medical issues mean he cannot work and hasn't done since 2010 when he had major spine surgery.
I work full time and support him as I earn to much for him to get any benefits other than DLA with which he has a motability car so no actual money coming in - will they try to take the arrears out of this or will I have to pay it?
When I queried why we had not been advised of any arrears before now she said that it only came to light as they were closing the claim down.
Any advice please ?

They are not able to take money from you as it is him that owes the money and not you but he will always owe that money until the PWC asked them to write it off, if it goes to enforcement then he will have it deducted from any benefits that he receives via an AEO.Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0

Can they take anything from the DLA? I understood that disability allowances were excluded.0

Thanks for replies - I've just set up a payment plan with them for me to pay it off. I realise not my debt but it's not worth having it hanging over our heads. The annoying thing is the money will just go into their account - they confirmed it doesn't go to pwc as children are all adults - or indeed to the children direct for the same reason - so I'm just giving them money . Oh well at least it's sorted. Thanks again for taking time to reply.0

If the money isn't going to the PWC it won't be because the children are adults. His ex must have been on benefits at the time and the money will be owed to the Secretary of State. At the time if on benefits the PWC didn't get CSA money it was used to refund the state.0
