It was my first mortgage for a self build. So no I didnt shop about. Silly I know but thats not the point im making is it? did people who had PPI mis sold shop about? If we all shopped about and got the right deal every time with no issues this forum would not exist.

It is the point - you weren't forced to go with Halifax and if you didn't like the deal you shouldn't have taken it.

We all make mistakes - I fixed my first mortgage at 8% as I was told money would never be that cheap again. I'm not sure what compensation I could've claimed for that, and I didn't, I just moved on.

You got your PPI back, you don't have a case for anything else as you accepted the deal and could have gone elsewhere.

It is possible to recoup Mortgage PPI if you can prove that it was miss sold. I think your question is better placed in the PPI section of the forum rather than here.

As for getting compensation for taking out a mortgage without shopping around, that sits squarely with you I'm afraid. If you did not understand what you were signing up for then you should have taken some advice from a broker or IFA.

He says he got the PPI back.

Still not sure what the OP expects from Halifax. I hope he doesn't call them toss ers when he speaks to them.

I hear what you say - But I also accepted the deal on PPI as did millions of others so i disagree that i should jog on and suck it up.

I was told the only way id get my mortgage was to do what they said. This turned out to be false. I could have gone to dozens of lenders thats 100% true. The outcome might have been different I agree - However and fundamentally, The lender i went to mis sold me. Thats just a fact. It happens!

I dont know why thats difficult to understand.

ME: I want that Tracker (Im eligible)
HALIFAX: We think they guys up stairs will knock you back on that one - You should take this one and make sure and also take the PPI and really make sure!

Repeat that a few times - Thats mis selling.

Opinions may differ but the mortgage mis selling is the same as the PPI.

Unlike some on here I dont sit back and allow what i feel is mis selling to cost me money - But hay it takes a few emails and some time then I'll give it a go. Some of the replies on here you'd think any possibility i had of a settlement was coming out of your savings lol relax

Sorry, missed that bit. I think the term "buyer beware" is pretty apt in this case.

If you wish to call people liars then you should have some evidence to back it up.
If you don't then no-one is going to take you seriously.

So its possibly to recoup PPI on proof that you were miss sold but not on a mortgage? really? Can you not shop around for PPI? does miss selling only cover PPI? Has no one ever been sold a mortgage before? never? no such case ever exist? really?? hmmmm ok

YOU: Oh, Ok then, I'll just go to this bank next door.
Halifax: <takes out gun> stay right here, sign this, or I'll shoot you.
    YOU: Hand me the pen.

    Go for it. Good luck.
