Friday 5th August - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

    Morning all :hello: yorkshirelass hope you enjoyed the cycling club. What a bonus it's free :D

    It's DH payday so account looks healthy for a while :) list for today:
    Pad to savings
    Check surveys, FPL
    Update spreadsheet as mortgage co confirmed new payment. £100 less and 2 years off terms :D move difference to savings column so it doesn't get wasted
    Used water that had been in bottle but not drunk (still from our tap though) to a) top up water in flowers and b) put in kettle
    Pork and broad bean pilaf for tea
    Lunch out but work will pay
    Buy two internal doors as they are on offer and we're ready to fit one and now have space in garage to store the other one
    Try and find out if local big orange diy shop stock a plinth we need to replace in the kitchen. Only costs £22 but they want £10 delivery :eek:

    Enjoy your day everyone.
  • Morning all,

    Managed to get through most of my list yesterday so hoping for much the same tonight however I don't know what my plans are as it's my GF's mums birthday. Anyhoo;

    - Check banks and YNAB
    - Check free post code lottery
    - NSD
    - Bring breakfast and lunch shakes to work
    - Exercise (doubtful)

    Have a wonderful day everybody.
  • I'm a chronic listmaker, so I love this thread - it is keeping me focused!

    Today I will:

    - Go to the post office and drop off the parcels for the items won yesterday. I did the postage labels online last night so I'm hoping I won't cause a massive queue!
    - Make my PAD to the credit card
    - Get something out of the freezer for tea
    - Make some sandwiches to take to the seaside for later rather than spending out on chips
    - Photograph the rest of the items I'd like to sell online
    - Buy some milk without buying anything else in the supermarket - this is my biggest challenge!
    Total Debts @ LBM (May 2012): £14685 / Current total: £5713
    My goal: debt free (apart from Mortgage) by July 2018
  • Morning guys thanks for the start PF! Re the plinth can you get them to cut it to the size pieces you need? If that's a possiblity then you can get it in the car

    Quick post for me as driving up to help my dd move. A little anxious about it, and currently dragging my heels with getting ready to go, as generally we don't rub along together well in stressful situations... Big girl's pants needed!

    Small things:

    * pay cc & check banking - will reconcile later...
    * all meals from stores - take lunch & snacks with me
    * go to the SM and get things needed for camping tomorrow
    * pick up tent pegs
    * water veggies
    * make lemon cake to take camping
    * pack up camping gear and put in car
    * shower instead of bath

    Ok that's all for me today x

    My list for today:
    Dog walk, and trip to the vets for healthcheck, wormer, flea treatment etc, paid for via monthly healthcare plan (done)
    Quick tidy round (done)
    Picked a handful of cherry tomatoes (done)

    Just about to take GD1 out for a while, to visit the nearest NT place, as she is a Harry Potter fan, and apparently some bits of the films were shot there - free to me, as I am a member, so only GD to pay for :)Done
    Remember to attach 2016 NT parking sticker to car windscreen to avoid paying parking charges Done
    Might buy a drink or snack out for GD, but will be back here in time for late (ish) lunch Just gave her some pocket money
    Need a couple of bits of shopping that I forgot yesterday, so I will get these while I am out Done

    Cooking a roast for dinner tonight, will use home grown vegetables Done, used our own potatoes, carrots, French beans and courgettes :D Meat was YS from freezer.
    Must make a cake later for little GD4 to decorate tomorrow, as she is expecting a 'picnic party' here tomorrow, and was also shocked yesterday to see that the cake stand / dome thingy was empty :rotfl:Not done yet :(
    Peg washing out later Or this, too late now :(
    Picked veg for dinner, except potatoes which were already in the fridge, chillis, rhubarb, froze rhubarb
    Watered everything that needed it

    Must get that bloomin cake made in a minute!

    Hi guys :wave:

    Things haven't been too bad here. Just the usual - packed lunch etc.

    We've spent a bit on the house and garden this week. It's finally coming together and feeling more like home. At home this weekend so will get through LOTS... honest!

    Need to YNAB to sort it all out. :think:

    Meal planning is going well so far....Batch cooking again - haven't done it in a long time :o

    Catch up over the weekend :beer:
