Affordability vs credit checks

Hi all,

Newbie here. Just wondering whether anyone has any experience on whether affordability can override the credit history? My credit history is not great, but with earnings of £70,000 a year, a 30% deposit and only looking at houses in the region if £150,000, is there anyone out there willing to do business on these terms?

I have someone willing to act as guarantor additionally, but Nationwide as good as laughed me out of the building earlier this week! Lol.

Affordability can sometimes be raised on a solid credit history. It cannot remove the effect of a poor history.


There are lender's however, that will accept a poor credit history. As you have seen, Nationwide is not one of them.
