Using Help to Buy ISA for Deposit
Comments
-
Hi MrsHluker,
Thanks for your post.
I still find it a little confusing but, i've resigned myself to what you refer to in your situation, and paying the deposit in full and just hoping the bonus comes back to me at some point.
I still find it stupidly confusing and I don't understand who it benefits doing it this way, and why you can't just use your ISA + bonus for deposit given that's what 99.9% of people who open the ISA want to do with it!
Just as a question - did you withdraw your ISA money (pre bonus) yourself to use for deposit and give your solicitor the closing letter, or did you do it differently?
Thanks.

Might be being stupid but... hear me out.
You pay your deposit at exchange (less the HTB bonus) so it is slightly under 5%
This doesn't actually go to the seller until completion anyway.
Solicitor knows this additional funds coming in for completion, so applies for it in advance and once the date is ready they transfer your funds plus the ISA bonus to make the full 5% - plus the mortgage funds?
