Hi, I'll be a full time university student in September as a lone parent, I can't seem to find any help and advice online about housing benefit, I will be receiving a full student loan of £6750 for the year, no bursary and the only other income I will be receiving is child tax credits/child benefit) I have found out I can apply for housing benefit for a private let but am needing to find out if they count the student loan in the calculation for housing benefit? And if so how much of the student loan will I need to use to pay towards rent- ie - how much /what percentage of the loan do they take into consideration, Im sure that years ago they never counted the student loan towards a housing benefit calculation as it was a loan which had to be paid back but have been told it might have changed now? Does anyone have any experience or advice about this? Thanks in advance
