We are in the process of changing insurers for the house contents/buildings as we are moving in 2 weeks.I have seen that there are some really good cashback deals through quidco. Can I ask if you do it through them do you need to put your bank account details online?I hate doing this as we only have a debit card and I worry that my account may be cleared out(not that i have much money in it in the first place). Thanks for any advice xx

You don't have to register bank details with Quidco if you have a paypal account. But they can BACs transfer your cashback to you if you do give them the details. Quidco never take anything out of your account, The £5 admin fee is removed from your balance before they pay you anything.
You would have to give your bank details to the insurer thru the website, but you have protections in place for your money's safety. It's as secure as anything... Quidco don't recommend fly by night companies. Really don't worry. Usually the insurance is debit card deduction for the first payment, which would be instant most likely, then subsequent payments would be direct debits; you are sometimes given a set date for those, but i'm sure you could change it to a day in the month that suits you by calling the customer service helpline of the insurer.
and online is almost always cheaper, sometimes by 10-20%.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Thanks.Yes I meant the having to give the insurance company my bank details. I really dont like the idea of putting my bank details online

Honestly, you'd be perfectly safe with mainstream insurers. ... It is worrying if you read the papers but think about it, you must've given your info to paypal at one point. These things are encrypted and secure etc to protect people like us.
As long as you are comfortable with it, that's the main thing. I personally think it's worth it for the mega cash back.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I really wouldn't worry.
Paypal have your bank details already, and probably Ebay these days (lot tighter security than when I joined in 1999!).
As long as the payment page URL starts https and/or you can see the lock icon on the bottom of the screen you are safe.

Hi
Just wanted to say that when my first quidco payment went through in July/August I had to select the BACS option as paypal is limited to a £50 maximum payment. This info was given to me by quidco via email when they tried to pay me.
I gave my details to quidco and touch wood, everything is fine. I'm now waiting for £100 back from my car insurance and £120 relating to my buildings and contents cover. If all this tracks ok, I've had £350 so far this year just by using the site for insurance.
Best of luck with the house move. The Cabbage
