Adding partner to mortgage

I'd like to add my partner to the my mortgage, so she has joint ownership of the house.

She has a poor credit rating, due to never having used credit and being self-employed for a while.

Is it possible to give her an equal share in the ownership without making her responsible financially (to save the credit checks making the application difficult, avoid pulling my rating down)... would that even be a good idea?

Either way, a 2 year fixed rate deal is ending next month. Would it make sense to do it all at the same time, or get a new deal in my name, then add her afterwards?

I'm with Nationwide currently and thinking of taking another 2 yera fixed rate deal with them.

Cheapest and easiest way would be to write a Will as amnblog suggests.

You cannot transfer equity to include her on the mortgage without making her financially responsible - your lender will have to run another application for you and her so they will do credit checks.

Speak to your lender and get it done when your fixed rate ends.

If you want the expensive most problematic way to to achieve the same thing, marry her !
