Helmet-cam Helmets

Not a day goes by that I don’t see someone riding in the middle of the road then shouting and screaming when a car comes within a meter of them, some of them need to reassess if cycling is for them if they get upset at being close to vehicles. I appreciate there is the whole dominant road position thing but some of these clowns are being purposefully obstructive then seem surprised that drivers get frustrated with them, well duh.
The roads are there for us to all use and moving over to let cars get by may not be in the highway code but it is in the unwritten rule book of common courtesy, however this does not make a good YouTube video.
That said I hate most drivers and pedestrians too so it may just be me.

1m from the kerb to force safe passing is sensible enough though maybe not in rush hour traffic in a city. It's a written rule that you should leave the same space when passing a bike as you would a car, doesn't mean all drivers do!
There are the angry cyclists just as car drivers who create conflict to add it to film, you can see it on the dash cam compilations on youtube where someone maybe pulls out of a roundabout when the gap wasn't totally there but the dashcam car speeds up or aggressively accelerates to get close so they can beep their horn at them.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Beeping a horn when there is no immidiate danger should be a hanging offence.0 -
Don't look up Electric Leaf Man on youtube then, he loves his horn

And? What is the point of your post exactly? None of the cyclists you have an issue with are active members here on this forum so I don't see the point in ranting here, believe it or not (and this is a real shock to a lot of people) cyclists are not a single, gestalt identity with every cyclist responsible for every other.
On a daily basis I see car drivers going through red lights, speeding, using mobiles phones and driving carelessly (making mistakes on roundabouts, junctions etc.) but despite those mistakes possibly being fatal to me, I don't go on car forums to rant about those drivers. There are idiots on every form of transport and all this type of post does is annoy the large proportion of those who aren't idiots. I don't cycle in the way you've described nor do I know any cyclist that does either and of course I don't agree with that type of behaviour. Although I do agree with your point that any post that starts 'I'm a cyclist but' is almost always a pointless, misplaced rant.

Very sorry John I thought it was a forum for posts about cycling. Maybe you can help me by writing a list of things I can or can’t post about?
I think I may have found the only cyclist more grumpy than me.0 -

Yes, you're right - it's a forum for posts about cycling not for people to rant about cyclists which is part of the reason it was separated from the motoring forum when this sort of post was a daily occurrence although unfortunately 'helpful' posters like yourself wish to persist with.
As I asked already, what is the point of your post aside from to rant about cyclists? Do you really think as a cyclist I should find such a post beneficial or of any interest? There's nothing 'grumpy' about being fed up being expected to take the blame over and over again for other people whose only relationship to me is that they happen to use the same form of transport. It's one of the worst parts of cycling and it's even worse when an apparent cyclist is doing it as well.
Here's a thought though, start a post in the motoring forum telling them how bad drivers are and how you have to endure that and see how friendly the responses are - to put it mildly, I think you'll be shocked if you dislike the tone of my post. Or better yet, find the cyclists you have the issue with who I'm sure will be more than happy to have a friendly discussion about cycling habits.
As for me, I'll carry on cycling in a road legal manner and being courteous to other people using the road...oops no I can't do that because I'm an idiot cyclist who disrespects all other people and shouts at them or something like that.

One of us is ranting John.
No, you're the one that started a thread ranting about cyclists in a cycling forum section (regardless of what you believe, you won't find many cyclists that like that sort of behaviour) so you shouldn't be surprised when you start with a rant and then insult people replying that you're not going to get favourable replies. It's not just a cyclist thing, you'll find taking the same approach in the motoring forum would get you decidedly less friendly responses. I'm surprised you think that sort of behaviour is acceptable and that you're defending it, you won't find any topics from me in here or other forums created to rant about the people using that forum section as I just don't see the point, I'm not talking to the people I'm complaining about and it just annoys people.
And yet again, you've failed to reply to any of the actual points in my posts - what was the point of your thread if it wasn't just to rant about cyclists? I've not seen anyone here who agrees with that sort of behaviour nor practices it. Yes that sort of behaviour annoys me as does no lights, cycling through red lights, down the wrong side of roads etc. but I know the cyclists here don't do that nor would defend it so there's absolutely no point posting a new topic ranting about it aside from to irritate people.

You mean to say that you have a problem with my post that I wrote because I had a problem with your post because you don’t think I should have posted my original post and now you want me to clarify my post for you?
For clarity it was a rant yes, if this is not allowed please feel free to report.
Since these people I am ranting about do not exist then maybe we shouldn’t worry so much if I have insulted them or not.
Would you calm down a bit if I put a similar post on the motoring forum? Maybe you can draft it for me?0
