'Unidentified network. No internet access.'

Are you talking about the networks you can see when you click on the Networking icon, and/or look in Network and Sharing Center?
If you're connected by WiFi but also have an Ethernet (RJ45) port, and you haven't disabled it, then it's possible that this has become corrupted (Windows has forgotten that it's the LAN connection) and is reporting as Unidentified Network? Even if it's not the LAN port, this might help you track it down.
I clicked in the Network and Sharing Center and found we were also connected by Ethernet. I disabled that connection and the message has disappeared.I think the OP is referring to the networks that the computer says it is connected to when they hovver the mouse over the network icon in the system tray ..
Am i correct OP ?
You have one that says "sky36475 - connected , internet access" or whatever yours is called, and one that says "Unidentified network - No internet access" in itallics.
Am i correct ?
I will try your solution should the message reappear.
Thanks to both for your very helpful responses. I shall sleep better tonight.0
