Who am i trying to kid!???!

You know what's bonkers!?!?

I've been updating my signature religiously with the payments i make monthly to my CC and Store card bills. But i haven't put my biggest single debt on there, i guess i just thought of it as a bill.... I have car finance from Welcome, i don't even have the car anymore, i gave it back in a bid to reduce the balance....... So from here on in my signature will be more accurate but it doesn't make good reading! Bummer cause i thought i was doing very well.

Maybe once i've cleared off my Egg balance, 2 more payments to go, (Whey Hey Hey!!!) I will up my Welcome one to bring it down quicker. All the interest and charges are piled on at the front so it's okay to make overpayments and pay of early.

Has anyone else thought they were getting somewhere then realised they were missing something from their list?! How bl00dy annoying!!!

  • Hi

Well done on 2 more payments to go with EGG :T :T

At least you have remembered the car finance now and it could have been worse. Just think if you thought you were debt free and then remembered it.

I was tempted to ignore a few debts mind :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • hi there, i think we all do that, i was loathed to add council tax to my sig as i was behind with it n didnt really class it as debt as such, a month after adding it to my sig i paid it off!!! perhaps this way of thinking and the constant reminder in your sig will help you also?
well done with threst of the debt, u have done really well!!!

  • Thanks you guys. I always made the payment monthly and liked ticking it off every month so i always knew it was there. I just didn't class it as debt, more like a bill which it isn't really....

There were other debts which i've now paid off, so originally my list was longer. Trouble is there isn't room to list everything so had to keep sig to the relevant parts only.

I need to remember that sometimes to think how far i've came already, not dwell on how far to go.

sorry to poke my nose, and its none of my business, but looking at your sig, i would maybe pay off your 2 store cards first as they are probably charging u a wacking load of interest. there maybe a good reason 4 u not doing this but i thought i'd mention it.

  • thanks Lindens, you mean as opposed to chucking a little bit at the car finance?

You're right y'know! Then i will be 2 less debts overall much quicker and can just plod along with welcome... after all when the others have gone it'll be the only one left won't it. I can chuck extra at it then.

I wonder if i can clear one of the others by christmas.... Hmmmm Thanks Lindens. Sure i could!

  • oh and i know i shouldn't be saving when i should be clearing my debt but having a little savings is psychologically a great thing for me!

Just in case anyone notices, not very MSE but works for me!

Yeah thats what i meant .
The intersts rates on store cards are usually over 20% so your current minimum payments are probably not making much of a dent. The more you pay off the quicker they will go down, and as you said the psychological boost of paying 2 debts off quickly  and then putting that money towards Welcome will be great:T .

Is that quidco money still with quidco (or just a running total)? I would be tempted to cash it in now and wack it all on a store card, so then there is even less interest and the total will be well within your reach.
    You can do it!!:j

It's not paid to Quidco yet, so i can't take it out. Not bad though, that's Quidco made in less than 2 months.... spent real money on car insurance/AA/£10 on Gala bingo/£20 on CD's which i subsequently returned (so may not get the CB £2 from them?)/ 2 x £1 magazines subs too.... but i think the rest were free clicks/trials/sign ups etc. So it is worth doing Quidco for the free stuff alone altho i think a lot of it is just one-offs
