Diamond Legal and Blemain Finance

Options
Hi, has anyone had any experience with Diamond Legal?
They say that they are a firm of solicitors who have been appointed to reclaim undisclosed commission fees that were charged to customers of Blemain Finance, who passed these fees as backhander payments to brokers in order to gain secured loans, regardless of whether the applicant was in any financial difficulty or could afford the loan.
Diamond Legal say that due to a successful court case, they are now successfully reclaiming these charges and seem to have records for anyone who has had dealings with Blemain dating back to 2009.
Their telephone numbers is;
0161 974 7760
Any feedback would be welcome thank you, as I am unsure if this is a scam or genuine?

    There was a court case a few years back where an independent broker did not disclose the commission amount and a fee had been paid. The court ruled in the end that the commission should be refunded. It was about £300.

    The key thing is where there is a fee and a commission and the broker is independent of the lender.

    Irrelevant.

    Did you use a broker?
    Did you pay the broker a fee in addition to the commission?
    Was that commission disclosed? (early ones may not have been. Later ones would have been).

    You may be able to make a complaint following the ruling of Plevin vs Paragaon, however, it would only be the case where PPI was not already refunded AND there was a large commission paid to the broker/lender which was not disclosed to you.

    If you have made a PPI complaint and been refunded then you will not get any money from this
    If you have made a PPI complaint and been rejected AND there was this large commission you may be able to use the Plevin case for a part refund of the commission

    Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

    People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • I can't find any firm of solicitors in the UK calling itself Diamond Legal.
