P45 problem after leaving

Hi, i was employed by Mcdonalds and left there on 06/06/16 prior notice had been given and that was my last working day. I left so my partner could return to work as her job prospects were better than mcdonalds and so i would doing the running round after the children. We basically switched roles as was the best option for our family. After waiting weeks i contacted Mcdonalds as had not received my P45 to be told i hadn't even been terminated there. After pestering them they finally terminated me on 02/07/16 i now have my P45 with the leaving date of 02/07/16 on. The problem is we receive a small amount of housing benefit and because this states my leaving date as 02/07/16 we are not entitled for the whole of June as to them it looks as tho we are lying and were both working during June. Mcdonalds have been absolutely useless regarding this (and before hence why i left my position) does anyone know of anything i can do to rectify this? Many thanks for any advice given.

I would go back to the branch you worked at and ask if your old boss would give you a letter confirming that you did indeed finish working for them on the date you say. That way I would hope that any benefits officers will see that your P45 is in fact incorrect with the date stated as your last day.

Your payslips will show your pay/tax to your real leaving date - just send your payslips with the P45 and the situation is obvious.
