Impact on employment

Hi,
I was declared bankrupt in August 2008 and discharged a year later. Last year the bankruptcy and everything associated with it dropped off my credit file. When I was made bankrupt back in 2008 I worked for a bank, obviously I told them what was happening and there was no issues and I continued working there until 2013. I then left banking altogether to get a job that fitted in better around my family but I am now thinking of returning to the industry. Will my previous bankruptcy prevent this or will I have problems even though it isn't even on my credit file any more? Is there a way they could find out? I'm really worried that I will hand my notice in at my current job and then fail the pre employment screening and then find myself unemployed! Thanks in advance for your help.

First of all, NEVER hand your notice in to a job before you have a signed contract, start date and confirmation of any required checks having been completed satisfactorily. Regardless if the new employer is putting pressure on you to start quickly, the person you speak with may not be the one with the overriding decision. Experience talking here...
On the bankruptcy matter, be open if asked. No point lying and it coming up (banks will be one of the few who puruse the gazette regularly, and your entry won't ever disappear). Most progressive businesses won't give a flat no because of it, but may ask for clarity on details. You'll be credit checked under FCA regulated business policy anyway, so they will be able to detect if you have managed your personal finances well over the last few years.0
