I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

It is illegal in the UK or Europe to sell direct to the public kits containing over 0.1% hydrogen peroxide because of health concerns, including oral cancer , with unsupervised use. It is possible to buy via eBay,Amazon etc kits and strips with above this concentration but you are buying from people knowingly breaking the law , often with counterfeit or out of date goods as there is no legal way of supplying them http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/warning-over-illegal-diy-teeth-7673856
Below this concentration teeth will not whiten. Abrasives or acids may remove some superficial stain but at the expense of enamel. The same goes for whitening toothpastes, mouthwashes etc.
The only safe way to whiten your teeth is to see a dentist . http://safetoothwhitening.org/tooth-whitening/0 -
A good toothbrush; a tube of toothpaste and regular brushing is all you need.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

This board is 'patrolled' by dentists, which might influence the replies you will get
I don't think 'patrolled' is the right word. If the Op is lucky one of the dentists here may come along and explain why she's wasting her money.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I do.
There's a few of them on here, and they all pile in one after the other, backing each other up. There's their opinion and the wrong opinion. And none of them have ever to my knowledge actually said where they work, or given their GDC numberI'm back..:D

No opinions , just facts from non dental sources to eliminate any claims of bias! http://www.local.gov.uk/community-safety/-/journal_content/56/10180/7773372/NEWS
There are a lot of consumer based tests on the uselessness of otc teeth whitening toothpastes/kits etc from which, television , newspapers etc such as http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2265539/Is-whitening-toothpaste-just-waste-money-They-promise-dazzling-Hollywood-smile-investigation-reveals-products-barely-make-difference.html
The bottom line is any legally obtained kit is useless, any illegally obtained kit is potentially dangerous. The only safe way to whiten teeth is to see a dentist.0 -

Oh, for goodness sake, I would rather take the advice of a dentist, who has taken the time to post here, than Joe Bloggs who says his kit from xxxxx site gave him a smile like a film star.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

That would be construed as 'advertising'!
What we always say is that no advice on specific problems can be given by anyone on the internet, and that people should consult a dentist who can SEE the teeth/mouth and the problem - and any one of us could be a 14 year old giving out deliberately misleading advice. Even those of us claiming to be dentists.
Just out of interest - what would you advise here? Illegal supply, or useless product?
I'm just waiting for this to come into fashion!! :rotfl:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OhaguroHow to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
