1 late cc payment-mortgage about to be assessed

Hi there,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light of an issue that has just cropped up and is worrying us no end.
Myself and my wife have are mortgage application about to be assessed by Nationwide any day now. Just the other day we both out of interest checked our credit reports again. Unfortunately, hers is now showing a late credit card payment for July this year. The late payment was dealt with immediately by her at the time and the credit card company reassured her that nothing would be put on her credit file with Experian. However, they have done it anyway! She has contacted them today and they are saying that they will rectify it on Monday. Other than this her credit history and mine is spot on. Hers is now showing as 'fair' mine is still 'Excellent'.
My question is: Are Nationwide likely to reject our application based on this one late payment being recorded? Especially if the credit card company can't update the credit file before the mortgage application is assessed.
Also, with regards to Nationwide specifically, they are due to send out a valuation surveyor next week and we have been given the date already. Does that mean that they have already assessed our credit files and affordability? They are paying for the valuation survey not us.
Anyone with any recent experience with this scenario or underwriting etc with Nationwide any advise or words will be appreciated.
Kind Regards
W
