It seems that your router uses 192.168.1.1 so just type http//192.168.1.1 into a browser. You will need your admin password which is usually found on the router or the paperwork that came with your router.

Get into the router setup menus and set the "DHCP lease time" to 6 hours or so. Normally they're set for a day or 2 days, but this can cause issues if the DHCP pool is very small (ISP provided routers typically have limited number of IP addresses available).

Hi Le-Kirk, it does use that IP.It's the default, on the bottom.
As the first thing I did was re-boot the router, then the Pc, as Gunjack et.al said, I'm hoping it was just a bug.
I have just typed in the IP 192.168.1.1 in chrome browser,on pc ethernet, but no login box has popped up? just umpteen links to info about it?

^^ Go to your start menu, type cmd, in the box type ipconfig, look for "Default gateway", that will be the correct IP.

Open your browser, put JUST that IP into the address bar (not search bar).

chrome-based browsers seem to default to a web search rather than just taking you to the IP address, bl00dy annoying... go to the address line and make sure the browser hasn't put http in front of the 192.etc

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Hi Gunjack,That's what it did, but, I have just done it, got in ok this time, didn't use : before
used admin on both.UN & PW.
All seems ok, but, I really don't know what I'm looking for, and I didn't go into advanced.
I can change my password or UN, but do you think I need to?
    All seems ok at present.
No more Windows info about 2 pc's.

First job - reboot everything. Full power-cycle, not standby or hibernate. Same with the iPad, same with the router (unplug for 10+ seconds). It'll all come back and offer new DCHP leases all round

:beer:how do I reboot ipad as you say? I just tend to let it switch itself off on timer if not used for couple minutes, then press button and pass number to use again.
    I rarely use it.
edit, sorted, found power down button.First time it's been powered down since I bought it, 18 months ago.

Once you are in your router and have signed in with password, click on advanced and then look for NETWORK. This should show a map with everything -Wireless and Wired - connected to (active) and everything that has been connected to (inactive) along with the IP address. Once you have noted everything, hit the refresh button and that will show active connections only. I note you have followed others instructions and all is OK now but you might need this info in the future and it is always good to be able to be these things at your leisure rather than in a hurry.
