OR taking of Pensions from 1996 Bankruptcies

I wrote on here a few months ago refering to the OR appointing a company who I originally thought was phishing due to their poorly worded letter to recover two small pensions that were part of my Bankruptcy in 1996.

The Company acting for the OR have now finally taken the two relatively small pension pots and to my surprise on the statement it shows that I have paid the tax for them!!.

Now as I see it there are two consequences for this,
the first that the extra tax could push someone over their tax allowance and,
second if you are under your allowance or pay no tax then could you get this back as a tax rebate? If the latter then would this have to be handed over to the company acting for the OR?

I still find it rather galling that the two pots will probably only pay the administration costs for this company to find long dead people and companies that no longer exist after 20 years of waiting!!.

Any help with the tax issue would be great.
