Survey Done Help Please

Hi everyone,

I have just had the report from the survey which was instructed by the lender.

In section 9 the following statement has been written:

"elements of the property are ageing and likely to require attention" no other information is stated.

After searching the internet, it seems that this is a generic statement? Should I be concerned or do valuers put this in there to cover their backsides?

You've viewed the property. Perhaps you should view a second time a little more closely.

Hi, if it is a survey instructed by the lender it is a valuation, rather than a survey. The only purpose of a valuation is to verify the property is standing and not about to fall down in the next few years. It will not begin to tell you what work is required, let alone how urgent it is.

If you are serious about buying this property I strongly recommend you get your own survey done, probably a Homebuyer's report unless there are obvious structural issues. Failing that, at least take a builder with you to see it before you commit yourself. Or take the risk, it is up to you. HTH.

Does Section 9 have a heading, such as "general remarks" or perhaps "essential repairs?"
