Busses are awful where I live. My dd waited an hour the other day and no bus turned up. Now that we are moving and I have a job we need it to get to work and school.
  • Ah, that's a shame. I'm very lucky where I live, there are literally buses every 2-3 minutes.
Maybe that's something you could take into account when you're looking for a new house to rent - somewhere with transport links? :)

    Hi

Have you thought about claiming DLA for your special needs son.

Debtagh the buses are the same where we live, i think they just decide when to show up dont they haha. I wish I could drive but can't really afford to learn until the debt has gone.
I don't think we could survive without the car we have though, especially for my husband getting to work & us all going out at weekends etc.
I'm the same with spending on cleansers and toners etc but I don't have sensitive skin, I have really bad acne and refuse to scrimp. It's about self esteem.
Good idea looking for somewhere with good transport links if you can, it would make your life easier if you could get rid of just one of the cars ? At least until the debt has gone. Just saw the comment about DLA, it's worth it if you don't already claim.

    Hi,

Sorry I've been awol. I'm exhausted, I started my new job and found a house so have completed paper work for that. It costs more than where we currently are but we knew that would be the case, it's in the same area and a nice road and the house seems decent . I'm worried about the money side but we didn't really have a choice. The job I've been given is quite a lot to take in and I feel quite a bit of responsibility.

I wake up feeling like I've had no sleeep at all, so much going on right now. I'm more and more hating our debt, it puts so much pressure on us and I can't see this easing for a very long time. I've tried to make the odd extra payment here and there but it feels like an eighth of a teaspoon at a time.

I watch that rich house poor house and I think it really hits home how bad our debt is. If we had no debt we would have over £700 a month of spare money at least! If I go by just dh salary we have no money a week for food, extra etc now due to the debt.

Well done on starting your new job. You are doing a few things at the minute that will be exhausting by anyone's standards. Moving house , new job, new routine , being careful with budgets. You have come a long way down the road , keep going until you are in the new house . I would just pay minimums until you move and do yourself a new budget when you move in. Expenses will be unknown in your new home until you have been there a while. As for work, don't underestimate yourself, you got the job well done, in a few months it will all seem normal. I think you don't give yourself enough praise for what you have achieved recently.

A big well done from me., keep plodding as Beanie would say .

    Enjoy Sundsy.

Thanks Cumbria. One of my biggest issues, is I see myself as a failure and never good enough. I'm pleased that I have started the job and have come home doing research to know and understand more.
  • Have you looked at any benefits you are entitled to now you are working? Working tax credits etc, child tax credits.
If you are not entitled to anything and paying out for childcare, then look at the tax free child care accounts, for every £8 you deposit in the account, government tops up by £2. I put £350 a month in mine and government top it up by £87.50.
It takes my £105 a week child care bill down to £86 of my money. Really easy to set up and use.

If you can do salary sacrifice child care vouchers, they work put better than the tax free child care account. We can't, do it works for us. Don't hang around though as all childcare voucher schemes are closing to new memebers soon.
