In need of some help!!!

Let me expalin my problem and see if any of you lovely people can help.

This time 2 years ago I was happily married but in some financial difficulty I went to the citizens advice who put us on a DMP and we got back on track after I got a really good job and no longer needed the DMP.

Anyway 2 years on I have had to change my job as i no longer have the childcare for my children and my husband has left.

We have come to an agreement that he will carry on paying the mortgage but me and the kids can live in the house instead of paying maintenance as we both own it and it seems mad to sell it and neither of us could buy one on our own.

Anyway I now am in a position again where I cannot pay my debts. I was wondering if i would still be able to go to the CAB as I had been there before with my husband and got back on track and somehow now have more credit than before.

Here is my SOA

Income : £600

child benefit: 110

Tax credit: £200

Secured loan: £150 all up to date
Metropolitan collections: £15 month payment arrangement (£500)
Metropolitan collections: £60 month payment arrangement (aprox 7,000)
Welcome finance: £150 currently up to date (4,000)
Aqua card : £30 (owe £425 limit is £350 up to date with payments)
Vanquis: £45 (owe £800 limit is £750 behind by 2 months)
capital one: £25 (owe £310 limit is £200 behind by 2 months)
Book club for children (owe £150 been told am going to court if dont pay full balance)

Gas £25
Electric £25
Council tax £120
Food £200
Petrol £40
Car tax £30
Phone £30
Water £30
Tv lincense £11.30 (think)
HOme insurance £25
Clothes etc ???

I have already cancelled sky etc since husband left.

I dont know what to do. I dont want to lose my house as it works out well with my ex paying our mortgage instead of maintance as the mortgage is £700 p/m and the kids have had enough change at the moment.

Also will the cab not help me as i had there help in the past and now am in a worse situation??

There should be no problem going back to the CAB. Without going into too much detail, it looks to me as if the payment arrangements to your non-priority creditors will need to be reduced. They can also check your benefits.
  • Hi loopyloopy

I am sure there would be no problem with you going back to CAB asking for help. You could also seek the advice of the CCCS or Payplan. As fatbelly has said it looks like you will have to pay your non-priority creditors reduced payments.

Also can I ask if your income is wages or is it benefits? The reason I ask is because if it is wages I am sure you are entitled to tax credits. You can check this on www.entitledto.co.uk. I think if your husband is paying the mortgage but not paying maintenance this is really a maintenance payment so don't think you have to declare all of this to the tax credits people. However, please check this first as I don't want you to be overpaid and then owe them money.

In your SOA you also need to include hair cuts, car repairs/MOT, birthdays/christmas, school lunches. There are probably more but can't think of them at the moment. The CAB/CCCS/Payplan will go through all these with you.

    Good luck.

  • hi,

thanks for your replies all of the debts are just in my name. I have never heard of the other companies mentioned like payplan. do you have to pay for their services.

Are you sure you're getting your full benefit entitlement?

Your monthly income looks low enough to possibly qualify you for council tax benefit. Plus you may be entitled to a single adult reduction.

CAB are fee-free, Payplan are fee-free, CCCS are fee-free. CAB can refer to the other organisations. As you've used them before, that would be a sensible place to start.
