Hi everyone. (no spell check available - sorry inadvance)
I've asked this question before with little success infact I seemed to upset people!
Slightly long story but nessecary. About 5 years ago went to our union for debt help. They referred us to a company called FCL they gave free debt advice to people and specialised in police officers so we trusted their advice no problem. Fcl owned shaws and payplan. They advised us the best course of action was a debt management program and referred us to payplan we were unaware of any connection! 3 years later debts had doubled and with court action threatening us the cab referred us for an IVA. The accountant who looked at our case said he was gutted we had recieved such bad advice and that we should have had an iva originally. By this point we had no choice but to sell our home to satisfy an IVA. This has all been done but feel angry. Did i get bad advice? Can I blame the union? Will records still exist?
Can I complain but to who? (FCL ,shaws and playplan all became payplan limited.)

I work in debt Advice and we have been told that people can now complain to the FSA about us as our organisations have a Consumer Credit Licence.Might be worthwhile giving OFT a go as well, and Trading Standards. I am not 100% au fait with the FSA complaints procedure as you may need to let the company who gave you the addvice sort it out.I doubt your Union could take the blame unless they are getting a kickback on referrals, and even then poss not.Debts :Paypal £1981.32
Monzo Loan £4278.16
Virgin CC £2137 0% until Dec 23
HSBC £5471.01 0% until Feb 2025
Emergency pot £404.47/2500
1p Savings Challenge £1.45/660
52 week Savings: £22.00/14000
