Mortgage after living abroad?

Hi, we lived abroad for a few years (a company inter-office transfer) and have been back in the UK 18 months renting.

We've just applied for a mortgage but had to fill in a special section detailing where we were because we haven't been resident in the UK for the whole of the last 3 years.

Will this count against us? We have a perfect credit history, rejoined the UK electorial roll as soon as we returned to the UK - but we only have a 5% deposit.

There are plenty of lenders who will look at this for you assuming you have a good credit score and your incomes are enough to support the proposed mortgage and other commitments you may have.

Be careful of Higher Lending Charges that most lenders will apply as a fee to the mortgage as you are borrowing over 90% - make sure the numbers work in yur favour if you look at a deal with this fee as opposed to a deal without the fee.
