cherries with no flavour

bought a punnett of cherries from the market and discovered they had absolutely no flavour. if i made a jam or cooked them to make a cherry pie will the flavour come out , or shall i just give them to the birds? thanks

If there is no flavour now cooking will not add it, but I am waste not want not, so would eat them anyway and learn lesson for next timeGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Bland tasting cherries can be marinated overnight in cherry juice or any berry juice, or in sugar-sweetened brandy or in red wine. Marinated cherries are best served warmed up in a saucepan.
Or you could start off some Rumtopf ready for Xmas.

Kirschwalder was one of my late husbands favourite puddings Basically cherries soaked in brandy over night,warmed through and topped with ice cream,whipped cream and sprinkled nuts we used to have it instead of Christmas pudding. I used to say he liked it for the fact our surname was Walder plus the warm brandy soaked cherries
