Creditor changed date of default

Hi all, any advice welcome please. I have a default with vanquis for july 2015. It was passed to metropoliton and i am paying the balance monthly. However vanquis have now changed the default date to Jan 2016. Are they allowed to do this? The red exclaimation marks on the credit report showing the default show from july 2015, its just the date thats changed.

You can dispute it through the credit reference agancies own website using the "dispute" button, but that tends to be a waste of time, you may find a written complaint is the way forward.
