Block myself from credit

Hi,
I am in some debt. My parents may be able to clear it but they would want a guarantee that I couldn't take out more credit (as do I). Is it possible to voluntarily and temporarily place a marker on your credit file that 100% prevents you from being accepted for credit?
This might sound like a stupid question.
Thanks!

Hi,
The answer is unfortunately, no, I don't think such a system exists.
The only guarantees in life are, your born, and you will die, everything in between is a variable.
You probably need to ask yourself why you are perpetually taking out credit, is it a shopping addiction, gambling, fast cars, fast girls, or something else ?
Spending is usually only a symptom of the problem, you need to tackle the root cause first, otherwise you will constantly be going around in circles.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. No, I don't think you can do that. For the good of your long term finances you will need to learn some self control. Get rid of cards apart from one debit card and use cash only as that will make it harder for you to spend.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. It is possible to put markers on the account but I don't know if they will stop you getting credit. I had 2 cases of fraud against me - one the building society paid me back, and with the other, the company closed the account and did not send the goods to the named address.
As a result, I was able to arrange for a marker to be placed which meant there were additional questions and checks made if I applied for credit. This did happen when I applied in store for a Debenhams card and I managed to pass the extra security.
In your case, that may be the impetus you need to stop the process. It would not stop it as you would obviously know the extra security - unless you got a third party to apply this.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220
