Do they pay straight away?

Plop, just did a long post and it disappeared!!

Long story short. My husband has been granted ill health early retirement at 44, with a small annual pension paid monthly and a lump sum.

He has been receiving a weekly wage in lieu of his notice for the past 6 weeks and his last payment this Thursday should (I think) include his holiday pay. His official retirement date is 19th September and his first monthly payment of his annual pension is 1st October.

As all the figures have been confirmed, is it likely that he will receive his lump sum on the 19th September? Payment is to go direct into our account.

Hoping somebody has experience of this and can advise.

Thanks and best wishes

Carol

  • This is an impssible to answer question as the quality and speed of admin depends on the scheme. It should arrive before the first pension payment but you best option is to contact the scheme administrators.
  • Thanks David. Guess we shouldn't be so impatient anyway!! :D Will probably just have to wait and see.

    Thank you

Hi , I was in this exact postion a year ago and happy to report my lump sum went in the same day as my first pension payment... I guess its not always an exact science though... good luck with hubbies retirement... he is a lot younger than me and I have been searching for a suitable part-time job for a year now with no luck...
