Farley rusk and milk! Real back to basic comfort food. I had that a lot when I had my wisdom teeth out. X0

When I had a wisdom tooth removed which needed 4 or 5 stitches I was advised no hot food/drink for at least 24 hours to help blood to clot and start healing wound.
For the first 24 hours I had things like Angel Delight or fruit blended with milk (pips strained with a sieve). Stewed fruit (cold) with yoghurt also good. Then moved onto soft boiled/ scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes and blended soups.
Avoid things with lots of little bits in which could get stuck in stitches and cause infections i.e. juice with bits, couscous, seeds in fruit, soup with small chunks.
It won't be an entirely balanced diet for a couple of days but don't worry about it, it shouldn't take long to get back to normal.
One thing I found was that the bruising and aches of having jaw wide open didn't fully develop til a day or two later so it took a few days before chewing felt like a feasible option!
I was also advised to use Cordosyl mouthwash (full strength not the daily) for the following days and let it gently wash around mouth."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Obviously, soup. (Best is bottom-of-the-fridge soup [Can we as an MSE collective not come up with a better name for that?!], where vegetables that have been forgotten can be rescued, condiments to taste & the whole simmered or slow cookered til tender. It may become habit forming!)
Stew & small dumplings
Real mash & baked beans
If Corsodyl or its supermarket generics seems a bit fierce/expensive, strong saline may be a possible alternative.0 -
When my jaw was broken and I was on liquids only for 3 months, I was given this recipe, to have as a treat.
Break a raw egg into a tall glass. Add milk to about three quarters full. Mix together with a long-handled spoon Add a small glass of sherry (the dark stuff works best). Mix again with the long-handled spoon. Sprinkle a little nutmeg on top.
I had to drink this through a straw, but depending on the situation, the straw may not be necessary in this instance. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
