:) Tuesday 19th July - What Small Debt Free Wannabe things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Hi July Joculants,

Thanks for the starter Lego Mum.

Just a tiny post. But tiny is ok!

Day Two of Operation Get My Mind In Order. That's my priority today.

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Do RM Surveys.

    * Do not work through my breaks at work. This will make me irritable and inefficient.

    * Take a packed lunch. It's rumoured there's a free lunch in the canteen. Take advantage of this!

Live long, live well and prosper.

    Hello Frugal Friends,
Another useful money saving day so far:
*Laundry washed overnight on cheap tariff. Dried in about 30 mins outside.
    *Watered greenhouse & veggie garden.
*Weeded runner bean bed, tied them all in & cut back overhanging hedge to give them more light.
*Picked strawberries. Will mix with a cut-up squishy peach & nectarine to make enough for desset.
*Picked more broad beans. Podded, blanched & added to bag in freezer.
*Pulled another big bunch of rhubarb.
*Cut bunch of sage. Now tied & hanging from kitchen beam to dry.
*Made stew & chicken & mushroom supreme with the rubber chicken I divvied up yesterday. Used some of the stock I made in both, plus leftover gravy & veg went into the stew. 1 big container of each for the freezer.
    Still to do this afternoon:
*Blanch & freeze most of the rhubarb.
*Bake a rhubarb & ginger cake. Will slice then foil & freeze individual slices as useful for picnics, etc.
*Use-it-up veg will be added to last of the rubber chicken to make chicken madras tonight. Already made the sauce which is now defrosting. Will shred the remains of a cabbage & stirfry with garlic & chilli too.
    *Make tomorrow"s packed lunch.
*Knit some more of Mum's present.
*Pick more sweetpeas. Free home fragrance as they were free seeds too.
*Tie our home grown garlic into strings for hanging up in kitchen.
But for.now.......I'm in a shady corner of our courtyard cooling off.
Be sure to get the Factor 25 out!

    Afternoon all :j
Thanks for the start Legomum - you ARE busy  Brings back [STRIKE]nightmares[/STRIKE] memories of when we did our house, pretty much gutted it, but at least we were not living in it at the time - dread having to decorate it again when the time comes

    Today I have:
    Not spent anything :D
Walked the dog early this morning, before it got too hot
Washed and pegged on line some plastic bags that have been used only for vegetables or fruit. OH hates me doing this as he thinks the neighbours will think we are stingy - do I care? I do not! :rotfl::rotfl:
    Listed an item on ebay
    A couple of surveys
    Made an apple cake
    Washing dry on line :)
Cut the dead heads off the lilies in the front garden (this is moneysaving as it will help them grow strong enough to look pretty again next year, avoiding buying more plants :D (though knowing me, I will buy more plants anyway :o)
Cut yellowing leaves (which I HOPE do not indicate blight - I don't think so) off tomato plants
    Picked first 2 tomatoes :D
Washed down the concrete area outside where pup tends to wee, to keep it clean and fresh (a bucket of hot water with a squirt of stardrops does wonders :))
Dusted the furniture in the lounge, which doesn't sound a lot until I factor in having to remove all the blue and white china from the (big) dresser to do all the shelves  - it does look lovely now though :)

    Still to do:
Water everything that needs it, and in this heat, that will be most things  Done everything in the back garden, will do front early in the morning.
Pick French beans, and any stray strawberries or raspberries Big colander full of French beans, we will eat some tomorrow and freeze the rest :) Didn't get to strawberries etc, will take cereal bowl out there in the morning!
Make a Thai prawn curry for dinner using ingredients from stores - I am determined to run down those freezers! This was really yummy, and took about 10 minutes - brilliant way to use a pack of on offer prawns from Iceland :)
Walk dog again, hopefully it will be cooler later, really scorching here today! Done, still really hot, but not so much as earlier
Maybe dry some sage a la Mrs F - the sage is a real thug and is taking over  Didn't get to this - maybe tomorrow...
Picked a few sweet peas, which make the house smell lovely, despite being a very small bunch :)
Put up a string of solar lights I bought reduced last year in the cheap shop in town, waiting to see if they work!
Got a chicken out of the freezer to cook tomorrow. This should last for the rest of the week :)

Still really hot, hard to get to sleep tonight I think :(

My DFW act today has been admitting that we can't afford to go see my family next year. It would cost us around £4000 (minimum) but I'm not willing to put any of that on cards no matter how much I miss them or want them to meet my newborn. It was a hard decision but soon my financial decisions won't just affect me.

    :(
DFW beginning 24/06/16 - current balances as of 28/07/16 are:
    £1320 / £1520 Paypal Credit
    £5413 / £6913 BarclayCard
    Total: £6733 / £8433 Hopeful DFD - October 2016!
    Grocery Challenge August: £56 / £375
