Credit Cards for non-EU members

Does anyone know how I can get a credit card? I have lived in England for 4 years but because I am from Switzerland (non-eu) I am not registered on the voting register which means I can not get a credit card. I have tried several banks etc. but been refused every time.

Can you not get one from switzerland and use it here?
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • I could but it would cost me more to arrange the repayments as they charge me for each transfer.

  • what is your status in the UK? are you here to work or are you married to a british person?
if you hold a joint bank account with a permanent resident of the Uk you can get a credit card.

plus do you want to use a credit card for convenience or because you need credit? you can get a debit card as a non eu national + switzerland has a special agreement with the UK concerning swiss citizens (ie they are allowed to live, work, claim benefit, get healthcare etc here - maybe you need to tell the bank this. as a swiss citizen you have as much right to be in the UK as the EU nations (Bilaterale Vertraege)

    hope it works out
