Barclays after bankruptcy

Options
Hi all

When I went bankrupt Barclays were one of my creditors;

2 X Barclays partner finance
1 X £300 overdraft

ive got a basic account with them now. Was going to use for 6 years to build history with them again but will they never lend to me again because of the debts? I know bankruptcy drops off in 6 years but they surely will 'remember' my debts?

Anyone got experience of being given credit again from a previous lender that was in your bankruptcy? Or should I just give up on that hope

    I had a Barclaycard included in my bankruptcy, six years later they gave me another card. :)
  • I have just been discharged and have a basic bank account with Barclays but they seem to be useless at removing all the restrictions on the account such as allowing me to use mobile banking, internet banking etc. I got so fed up that I applied for a current account with a contactless card just 1 day after bankruptcy and it was approved.

    So there is hope then !

    Would I be best to use a Basic Current Account with Barclays for 6 years? Would that help?

    i was in Santander at BR, despite the fact they weren't part of it apart from my current account they closed my account.

    I was advised by a friend to go to Barclays, bearing in mind i had a large cc debt with them, although i was trying to clear it, other factors meant this had to be included obviously.

    On applying i was told i would get a telephone account to set up DD etc but she wasn't sure if they would accept me for online banking they did though so i was happy, never needed telephone banking after that!

    It was a basic account for a while but now i've a current account upgrade. I took out house insurance with them and have 2 saving accounts one an ISA. I can't remember how long it took to change to current from cardcash account but it could be opening up other products helped this process move forward.

    I like Barclays, i was in Halifax years before Santander who i had no problem with either but i wouldn't look back now.
