Bit of background. At the end of the year I lost the job I'd had for the past 3.5 years. I was a casual employee (ie on a zero hour contract). The place had a restructure I was no longer required.
I had several months of fruitless job hunting, which I found soul destroying. I live in an area of high unemployment (ex mining town with all its associated problems). I had a few interviews but wasn't successful.
A few weeks ago I was offered a temporary position to cover illness of upto 12 weeks but it wouldn't continue beyond that. I accepted it . 2 weeks into this job I had 2 other job offers, both still temporary but longer term with the possibility of going permanent I accepted one of them and have been there almost 2 weeks.
This week via one of the job sites I have been registered with another job has come up but this is a permanent position and I'm in two minds whether to apply or not.
Currently I am working 10 miles away, if I was without a car it would be difficult and very time consuming to get to but not impossible. It's 37.5 hours per week mon-fri 8-4 for 3-6 months with the possibility of it going permanent after that but nothing guaranteed. So far, I am enjoying the job.
The job I've seen is a permanent position, 37 hours a week but the hours allocated differently, until 4.30 Mon-Thurs but finish at lunchtime every Friday. It's 5 miles away and easily commutable without a car. It's also in a related industry to the job I lost at Christmas-time. The hourly rate is less than I am currently earning.
Part of me thinks I should go for it, the other part thinks having already job hopped in the last few weeks I shouldn't do it again and to leave be and see what happens where I am.
Financially as a household, we are in the fortunate position of not needing an income from me to pay the mortgage or put food on the table, but almost 6 months of me out of work we discovered we struggled to provide the 'extras' that my income paid for.
Would welcome other peoples thoughts/views/advice.

I would apply, go for the interview if successful and mull it over in the meantime.
Nothing to lose this way and you've got a bit more time to work out what you prefer - CV wise it'll be relatively easy to explain why you've had three jobs in such a short time (going from contract back to perm).0
