This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone.
I'm back in a wet and dull Glasgow though Kirkwall was very wet and dull when we all left. The airport is quite small and all three flights, to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow leave within ten minutes of each other and there's only one gate. That meant that the fond farewell that four of us made to each other was repeated half an hour later!
Today I just have to do a couple of techie chores for Mum before heading home, via a shop or two. I'm excited to be home to see my reconstructed living room. I'm sure there'll be some clearing up to do before moving the furniture around.
Despite the weather I really hope everyone has a good Sunday.0 -
Morning folks and thanks for the start GERS. No rain here but it does look rather windy. Though the 30 deg mini heatwave is still due to arrive for a few days. There's never a happy medium is there!
We are going over to the caravan later, to take over from DD and the girls. We have no reason to rush back for childminding so our return is flexible, though probably Friday. The DGDs are all going to the Costa Dorada on Wednesday for a week with their other grandad and step-gran, where they have a sort of static/unit. DD and bf are taking advantage of no kids for a week and are also going to Spain (Costa del Sol) on the same day for a week. So our services are not required!
No fixed plans for our time at the van but we do want to go to Brimham Rocks one day and check out the progress of the bilberries. For some reason they seem to grow better there! None left in the freezer from last year and we are getting withdrawal symptoms! What a treat it is though the winter months to enjoy bilberry crumbles, pies and jam! We will take tupper boxes and a picnic with us just in case they are ripe and ready for picking and will spend the day there! It's a laborious job but worth it!
Have a nice day all (((HUGS))) where wanted. Probably be back with you Friday, take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Have a great week TA, child free and foraging sounds bliss.0

Morning everyone,
Dull and overcast here but already warm, windows are open to catch any breeze.
Well, yesterday didn't quite end up as planned, phoned Mum after breakfast and she was clearly in a lot of pain with stomach cramps etc so suggested she phoned 111.
Managed to get appointment at local hospital for lunchtime so dashed over to pick up and get her there. They have given her AB's for urine infection, think the doctor was more concerned about her swollen tummy but given she has ultrasound already booked for Thursday said would wait until then, give the AB's chance to work etc. Poor Mum, it's been less than two weeks since last saw her and obvious she has lost more weight
Anyways, she came home with us to be looked after, managed small bowl of chicken soup last night and went to bed just after 9 completely shattered.
Hopefully she will feel up to sitting outside today and letting her daughter look after her
Quiet day planned then, took some beef brisket out of the freezer so will just have that with new pots and salad, did make a rice pudding yesterday so she might fancy some of that or ice-cream.
We hope to crack on with sanding down the swing seat ready for re-varnishing but will see how warm it gets.
Have a good sunday everyone, take care folks x0 -
Enjoy your week TA, fingers crossed the weather stays fine for you x0

Morning all
Sounds like summer could be here at last, only until Tuesday though.
I got all the washing dry on the line yesterday including DGS's uniform.
Hubby's stress levels are through the roof and still no jobs around that he can apply for, it doesn't make him easy to live with, he'd probably be better if he would keep busy, unfortunately he'd rather sit and brood!
I will try and persuade him to at least cut the grass today, before a lost tribe takes up residence in it.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
Raining again. Take care on your journey up Gers, the roads have a lot of standing water.
Lainey, I hope your Mum feels better with your care.
Have a good break TA.
I was up at 4.30 to take friends to the airport, they are off to sunny Spain for 2 weeks, I am in charge of their rabbits - they only live across the road so no bother - and the budgie that is chirping away in the living room. Not really keen on birds in cages but he isn't any problem, I have a blanket to cover him if he gets too noisy!
I am making DD some place mats so spent most of yesterday fighting with them. I'm not a natural sewer but they look ok so far, I've just to do the stitching round the edges.
Back at the airport around 10.30 tonight to collect DD and her bf, I may need a nap during the day!
Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
LAINEY I hope your mum soon feels better under your loving care and fingers crossed for the result of the u/s scan. It's a worry for you x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning all,
Beautiful day here again that's two days in a row ! we are spoilt, we had a fab night at the mini festival last night it was really warm till late and we sat in the sun with friends listening to music and eating and drinking too much:beer: I feel a bit jaded this morning but not as bad as DD and her young man who feel very rough indeed ! Evie had a sleepover with her granddad and was very pleased to see us this morning ! She is allowed a little walk today but not off lead, she will not like that much !
she is very full of beans and ideally needs a good run, but not allowed for a good while yet !
Not sure about dinner yet, will go and look in the freezer after this, it will be something simple though, maybe a pasta dish.
Lainey I hope your mum is ok and can manage to eat something, even a tiny bit will help her xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning, just..... we were awake early so our usual Sunday morning breakfast in bed was all done and dusted just after 9am.
OH out to the garden, he managed to fall into the leeks and calebrese....I was out there weeding and planting at the same time. The soul us truly dreadful, it will take years for it to improve. Never mind its the blooming buttercups that keep coming up I am trying to get rid of.
Its a lovely sunny day out there, I put a load of laundry on and hung it out, I guess it will be about dry. Its bed change tomorrow so another load will go on then. We are assured that the warm weather will last another couple of days, so need to make hay whilst the sun shines.
Just about to make some sarnies for lunch....pork for supper, we have a few of our home grown climbing beans and new spuds in the pot. I think we will have fresh raspberries and ice cream for dessert.0
