Making a solid shampoo bar liquid?

Options
Anyone have any ideas on whether it's possible to turn a Lush solid shampoo bar into a liquid? I just find liquid shampoo so much easier for my long hair (less tangles!)

TIA.

Hm, I can only say, as someone who makes soap, that making liquid soap requires a different chemical to making bar soap.

I suppose you could try grating some into some hot water, stir until it dissolves, and then keep it in a bottle. It might be a bit trial and error though!

I tried making the end of a bar of the stuff into liquid, it didn't really work, and lasted far fewer washes than the solid stuff would have done.

What works to avoid tangling for me is to just rub the bar backwards over the top of my head three or four times and then use my hands to spread the shampoo through the rest of my hair.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to give it a go with a small bit of it this afternoon.

In the days when people used the blocks of hard soap such as the strong Lifebuoy , it was usual to make a lather by shaking the bar in a bowl of hot water. Perhaps this would work ?

The Lush solid shampoo isn't soap, it's basically the same stuff used in the liquid shampoos you might buy anywhere else. Anyway, it's soluble in water of course, that's how you use it, so it should dissolve fine to make a liquid. Might not be as thick as liquid shampoos, which can make it harder to apply as it will run off your hair fast. Also, last time I checked it didn't have preservatives, so once mixed with water it will have a limited life span before microbes grow in it, so I wouldn't make lots of it to keep a long time.

My Lush shampoo managed to melt last week in the hot weather, as it sat in it's little tin on my bathroom windowsill.
It didn't melt to a liquid though, more of a thick gel with an elasticky putty like consistency. Still works fine as shampoo thankfully.
Has in the last 24 hours, now the weather has cooled, gone back to more like how it was pre-melting, but more solid looking rather than little white balls in it.
Not worked out how I'm going to get it out of the tin though :)
