I don't have a lot of waste, i try to recycle as much as i can. Probably an average week is about a carrier bag of rubbish goes into the wheelie bin. Only needs taking out every few months.
But i do like watching the HFW programmes.
    Thanks Polly.

    Me too.
I'm gob-smacked though at how much stuff goes in the burgundy recycle bin - which years ago would have just been waste.

I know, we fill an IKEA blue bag every week with recycling and two green bags of veg peelings and scraps yet only half full our black bin bag, mostly with cat litter and barely have any plastic bags anymore as we never buy them. It's amazing to think that all of that used to go straight to landfill.

It's him and his type that have waste.... poor people don't have it. Waste is a middle class luxury :)

I have a zero waste policy in my house for food ... and everything else is so minimalistic it doesn't register! I threw out one half a loaf bag of rubbish in the last 2 weeks... and it wasn't even tightly packed!

He's just got some new book to flog I bet.

I think, for us, it's less food waste and more packaging. Our food budget is tight so we shop at budget supermarkets like Aldi & Lidl where everything comes in a bag, a tray or plastic wrapping.

I don't understand these people who throw away hundreds of pounds worth of food a month that you see on TV with their big American fridges. I'd feel ashamed to waste that amount of food, not to mention annoyed at the money wasted. Then again I'd class myself as a lower middle class environmentalist with parents from very much working class backgrounds so maybe I've inherited their thrifty ways like charity shop shopping and reducing waste as well as my stance on environmental waste lol!

I find the man irritating so won't be watching. I'm quite happy with the minimal levels of waste at home.

Having seen the trailer for his show I notice he was talking about supermarkets wasting food and how there's been an improvement in them passing it on to the homeless etc. which has to be a good thing. And if he can do anything about ridiculous packaging for many items bought on line then he deserves support.

Apparently he's tackling Amazon who often send small items in massive boxes - that's my experience too.

And coffee chains too about their cups.

Yes you're right. Maybe I'll keep an eye on the thread in case he has ideas how the public in general could help with the packaging/coffee cup issues.
