Joint State Pension

This has probably been asked before but.......

Done the check on the Gov website and according to it both my wife and I qualify for the £155 pension.

Does this mean we will both get £155 each ie £310 per week? Just putting retirement plans in place

If you're both entitled under your own contributions you will receive two pensions.

You will both receive seperate pensions and not necessarily the same amount

You both need to contact the DWP and get a more precise pension forecast.....
you cant calculate your own entitlement. They will doit and let you know

..you can apply on line for a state pension forecast...only takes a few mins...and you will get a written statement through within a week or two showing all your NI records...well worth it. If you have contributed to NI for 35 + years and have never "opted out" you may get the full amount. Most people assume they will but then find that they have been "opted out" at some time (ie paid into a private pension), and are therefore not entitled to the full amount.
