Extra long bike axle/skewer...?

I'm looking for an extra-long rear axle/skewer for my mountain bike. But I'm having difficulty finding one that would be suitable.
I need a long one to accommodate the rack that mounts through the rear axle. I was using the extra-long Halo ones (below), which are just long enough, but the end of the rack mount bent inwards today, pulling the skewer nut inwards at an angle. So I'll need to insert a washer inside the rack mount to stop that happening again... and a longer skewer.

It looks like standard skewers are for 135mm dropouts (internal measurement) with a maximum 6.5mm dropout width. The XL ones I have allow for 10mm width, so 3.5mm extra on each side (7mm total). I'd need one at least 3 or 4mm longer.
Would a tandem 145mm skewer be suitable? Where can I get one? (Ideally hex-nut rather than quick-release lever, but at this stage I'm not bothered!)
And where can I get a single washer? Is it going to be safe to insert it between the frame and the rack mount? Should I look for a certain type or specification of washer? Does the type of metal matter?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Ooh -- would these stainless steel washers be suitable?
