Six weeks notice period for a supermarket worker sounds odd to me."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

The whole thing is odd. Lengthy notice periods, dismissed without a hearing, refusing to provide a written reason for dismissal - and potentially an underlying disability if this arises from a health condition (which we cannot be sure of yet until we know why her employer has had letters from the GP and consultant about her sickness). As suggested, it may be that she has misunderstood something - but on the face of what is being said here, something very fishy is going on.0 -
I hate these "a friend's situation" threads as they invariably turn out to be either fantasy, or so inaccurate that's it's not worth giving any meaningful advice as it turns out to be meaningless - "Oh sorry I forgot to mention this friend is xxxxxxxxx" ...... perhaps 2 weeks notice rather than 60
