More debt after DMP

Hi all,
I have had a bad year mentally physically and financially to help me cope yes I know how stupid I have ran up more debt nearly 5,000 worth and since losing my job due to disability partner leaving me,Now he is back ! I can not keep up with payments to the credit card and overdraft that I was able to spend on.Only myself to blame.
I have never defaulted on the DMP.
The advisers at Step change are fab and helpful but I am scared to contact them as once when I asked for a delayed payment I felt she was very cross with me.
What a woos and what an idiot I am.
I need to toughen up and face this mess.

    Hi,

Just wanted to wish you well and offer some support. Well done for facing up to things, am sure it won't take too much to get thing sorted again for you.
Might be worth posting this on the DMP thread as someone may be able to offer some advice?

    Hi

I’m sorry to hear about the tough time you’ve been having. If you can’t afford the additional debt repayments you shouldn’t just struggle on though. If Stepchange did have an issue you can always negotiate with your creditors yourself using the sample letters and budget planner on the National Debtline website.

Have you considered whether a form of insolvency such as a debt relief order (DRO) or bankruptcy might be a suitable option for you? You could potentially have your debts written off and have a fresh start.
There is more information on eligibility for a DRO on this factsheet:

    www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/debtrelieforders/droadvice.aspx

You're welcome to call National Debtline if you would like to speak to an adviser about your options.
