Remortgage advice

Hello - I wonder if anyone can offer advice here. I'm looking to remortgage due to my current deal with the provider is coming to the end of its term. During the current term my husband gave up work due to illness. I have a good credit score and my salary will cover the cost of the mortgage and bills etc. My question is should I apply for a mortgage just in my name given my husband has no income or should it still be a joint application?

    Can you not just take a new rate with your current provider?


    If you are applying elsewhere you need to make a joint application unless you change the ownership of the property.

    Thank you for your response, the reason I am considering moving is that I can save about £32 a month on a 2 year fixed deal. If I take a new deal with my current provider will that attract any fees such as surveys and solicitors? Also, would our current provider want us to go through an affordability check, I am sure we would pass this as I have already done some checks on a few websites but it would be less hassle.

    Just one other question, when a provider asks for other outgoings what should I include? The outgoings I'm confused as to wether to include or not are:- council tax, utility bills, life insurance, house insurance, car insurance, petrol and food shopping. What about mobile phone bills and broadband costs?

    Your current provider will generally offer you a new rate without checking anything.
