EU nationals mortgages

Hi,

does anyone know what will happen in the case of those EU nationals looking for mortgages at the moment - are they likely to be turned down because of Brexit?

Or with those with existing mortgages - at time of rate renewal or remortgage or move to new property?

Any recent guidance from lenders?

You'll need to meet the criteria that's set by the individual lenders. Brexit doesn't change anything.

Current criteria you mean? EU citizens were able to secure mortgages - within 1-2 years of moving to UK provided they had a job and met other lending criteria - without needed permanent residency but now that's likely to change with Brexit, no? Permanent residency means living here for at least 5 years.

Right now, I don't see it being an issue. Further down the line, well of course that could be different, but it all depends on the terms of free movement rules. We won't know for a good while yet.
